Every fall, we at the Beta-Psi Chapter at the University of Washington partner with the Gamma-Mu Chapter at Washington State University to host our annual philanthropy, the Apple Cup Run.
The name Apple Cup originated from the annual football rivalry between the two Universities, which the University of Washington now leads 72-32-6 since this great matchup began in the year 1900.
The event takes place prior to the game when our members run over 290 miles between the two campuses in Seattle and Pullman, WA. The run starts at the campus of the away team and finishes at the campus of the home team, which this year was WSU and UW, respectively. This year, our two Chapters acquired footballs which were signed by their respective coaches, Chris Peterson (UW) and Mike Leach (WSU). The members of both chapters then run the footballs in a relay-style event from the starting campus to a designated half-way point to hand the footballs off to the members of the other chapter.
This year marked the 39th Annual Apple Cup Run; it was a huge success yet again. On Friday, November 17th, the members of Gamma-Mu left Pullman to begin the run. The event came to an end the following Sunday, the 19th, as our members of Beta-Psi gathered at Husky Stadium in Seattle to cheer on the last runner.
Last year, our two chapters raised $8,500 for the Military Heroes Campaign. Our members followed that up this year by setting a new standard and raising nearly $11,000 through tailgates, social media, and reaching out to friends and family.
This year, our Chapters are proud to donate all proceeds of the Apple Cup Run to the SEAL Legacy Foundation. The SEAL Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to families of wounded and fallen United States Navy SEALs, educational assistance for SEALs and their families, and other charitable causes benefiting the SEAL community. It is truly an honor to partner and be associated with the SEAL Legacy Foundation and to support our United States Navy SEALs.
We are forever grateful for what our troops have sacrificed for our country, and the Apple Cup Run is our way of saying thank you, to all of our troops, for all of their sacrifices.

The Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign is committed to supporting ongoing care for our military veterans and their families. We aggressively pursue opportunities to assist our nation’s veterans with financial and organizational support to help them overcome the battles they fight every day.
The Military Heroes Campaign is rooted in the idea that every veteran deserves a stable life and an active community of supporters. We do this through the generous donations of thousands of donors just like you and work with trustworthy organizations to ensure that donations go directly to those veterans who need it most.
