Rho-Sigma at St. John’s University (Staten Island, New York) hosted their 3rd Annual Military Heroes Dinner to raise funds for Kappa Sigma’s Military Heroes Campaign. The dinner was held at St John’s Staten Island campus to honor those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and those who currently risk their lives to protect the country.
Over 200 people were in attendance which included brothers, alumni, students, faculty and members of the community who listened to veterans speak about their experience in the military. Those in attendance were able to learn about what can be done to help veterans transition to civilian life. The event was a big hit on campus and the brothers were able to raise $3,022 for the Military Heroes Campaign, this was a significant increase over the $2,000 that the event raised last year.
Created in 2007, the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated over $600,000 to non-profit organizations who advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.
