The Beta-Mu Chapter (University of Minnesota) announced today that the Beta-Mu Scholarship and Academic Assistance Fund (BMSAAF) will make a challenge donation of up to $34,000.00 for the 2019 Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, which begins this Friday at 12:01 AM EST. The funds will be allocated to the Beta-Mu Chapter Scholarship Fund.
For every $1.00 that Beta-Mu initiates donate during the weekend, the BMSAAF will match it with a $3.40 donation (up to $34,000.00).
“We enthusiastically support the ideals of Kappa Sigma Fraternity brotherhood and our Beta Mu Chapter,” said Tim Arimond ’72, President of the BMSAAF board. “It is our hope that this commitment will inspire Beta-Mu brothers and others to share their treasures as well.
“This outstanding example of leadership will make a positive difference for our undergraduate brothers at the University of Minnesota today and for many years to come,” said Worthy Grand Procurator Justin Hansen. “On behalf of a grateful international fraternity, we thank the good brothers of Beta-Mu Chapter for their commitment.”
In recognition of one of our greatest brothers, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity has designated March 1-3 as the Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving.
The purpose of this historic initiative is to raise money for each Chapter Scholarship Fund through tax-deductible donations to the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund. Brothers and other Kappa Sigma supporters will be challenged to donate $5, $34, $340, $3,400 or more between 12:01 AM EST on Friday, March 1st and 11:59 PM HST on Sunday, March 3rd. Donation levels have been set to reflect by Stephen Alonzo Jackson Day, which is celebrated annually on 3/4.
100% of all donations raised during the SAJ Weekend of Giving, will be allocated to the donor’s Chapter Scholarship Fund of choice.
