Brother Ed Knight joined the Chapter Celestial on Aug. 16, 2015 with his family by his side at the age of 93. Ed was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a great and loyal friend and brother. He served in the Air Force and retired as Major after over 20 years of service. He later became the Director of Records and Registration for the University of Central Florida, and actually registered the first student to attend the new university (FTU at the time) in 1967.
Most importantly, Brother Knight was instrumental in having two local fraternities merge to form a Kappa Sigma colony leading to the chartering of the Lambda-Epsilon Chapter on April 30, 1971, the first national fraternity on the FTU campus.
Brother Knight was the chapter’s first Alumni Advisor serving the Order for several more years. He was a mentor and caring counselor, personally ensuring that several young brothers at that time who were struggling with their studies kept “on track” maintaining their military draft deferment status.
The Chapter Hall in the on-campus chapter house at UCF is named “Knight Hall” in honor of Brother Knight. He also was a member of the Rotary Club of South Seminole County for over 47 years. Aside from his professional and fraternal life, Ed was a lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan, playing center for their basketball team in 1947. But, he also cheered for his UCF Knights.
