Kappa Sigma welcomed 38 initiates into the Tau-Iota Chapter at Farmingdale State College on Saturday, March 7, 2015, becoming the 395th chapter to receive its charter in the Fraternity’s history. Tau-Iota was colonized in November 2013. The Brothers of Tau-Iota were initiated by ritual teams from several nearby chapters. The ritual teams were led by Ritual Commissioner Member Garrett R. Atherton (Alpha-Eta, The George Washington University, ’06). Brothers from the following chapters made up the initiating ritual teams:

  • Alpha-Kappa – Cornell University
  • Pi-Phi – Brooklyn College
  • Rho-Beta – St John’s University
  • Rho-Sigma – St. John’s University-Staten Island
  • Rho-Iota – SUNY Cortland
  • Sigma-Delta – Stony Brook University
  • Sigma-Nu – Binghamton University

Worthy Grand Master of Ceremonies Toby H. Taylor (Epsilon-Psi, Lambuth University, ’95) attended the ceremonies and provided the keynote address at the installation banquet. The chapter is led by Grand Master Robert A. Balkam and assisted by Alumnus Advisor Ted J. Solomon (Omicron-Epsilon, Adelphi University, ’09). Tau-Iota is located in the Long Island District where Brother Louis M. Di Meglio (Omicron-Epsilon, Adelphi University, ’06) serves as District Grand Master. Long Island Assistant District Grand Master Charalambos M. Loizides (Omicron-Epsilon, Adelphi University, ’09) also assisted with the installation.
About the Tau-Iota Chapter
