Chief Special Warfare Operator Zackary Wilson Miller II (Alpha-Upsilon, Millsaps College, ’01) succumbed to his brief battle against cancer on June 4, 2021, in Virginia Beach, VA.
In honor of his service to his country and his brotherhood, the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund dedicated the 2021 Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign grant of $65,000 to the SEAL Legacy Foundation in his name.
Brother Miller graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in 2000, where he played baseball, basketball, and football; he was the captain of the football team. Zack was awarded a scholarship to play football at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. before transferring to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2004.
Brother Miller enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 2004 where he first served as an Aviation Ordnanceman on board the USS NIMITZ and later became a Navy SEAL, graduating from SEAL training in June 2008.
Brother Miller’s service in the United States Navy resulted in numerous honors and awards, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, among others.
Brother Miller is survived by his parents, brothers, and many other family members who loved him and are proud of his service, including his loyal canine companion, Boone, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.
Both the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a grateful nation will never forget the life of this great patriot and Kappa Sigma Brother.
