As No Shave November came to an end the Kappa Sigma brothers at Minnesota State University-Moorhead (Sigma-Sigma Chapter) prepared to shave their newly grown beards for a good cause. The chapter had been busy raising donations from friends, family, and staff benefitting the Go Pink Scholarship on campus. Each donation received was a vote toward a crazy haircut style that each member would wear at the end of the event.
The Go Pink Scholarship goes to two students each year whose lives have been affected by cancer and this was the second year the chapter had held the event. “Watching people come up and get interested in something they didn’t know about before,” was undergraduate member Garrett Anderson’s (’14) favorite part.
Kappa Sigma is committed to making a difference in the lives of others. It is this commitment that has provided the inspiration and vision for A Greater Cause – the Fraternity’s bold initiative to promote volunteerism, citizenship and service to the community. During the 2013-2015 biennium, Kappa Sigma members raised more than $5.8 million for charity and volunteered over 1.1 million hours of community service as part of the initiative.
