This past November Kappa Sigma’s Epsilon-Sigma chapter at Florida State University hosted their very first Heart of a Champion Blood Drive. The event was held in honor of FSU graduate Megan Blakey who passed away back in May of 2014.
The Kappa Sigma brothers were able to raise over $10,000 for an endowment fund in Megan’s name along with collecting around 450 units of blood. “This event was a huge stride for our chapter, and proved what we are capable of when everyone works together towards a common goal,” said Epsilon-Sigma Grand Treasurer Chase Mayer. The event received great publicity both on and off campus and was another great example of Kappa Sigma brothers going above and beyond for A Greater Cause.
Kappa Sigma is committed to making a difference in the lives of others. It is this commitment that has provided the inspiration and vision for A Greater Cause – the Fraternity’s bold initiative to promote volunteerism, citizenship and service to the community. During the 2013-2015 biennium, Kappa Sigma members raised more than $5.8 million for charity and volunteered over 1.1 million hours of community service as part of the initiative.
