The Kappa Sigma brothers at the University of Texas at Dallas recently held their fifteenth annual Box-A-Thon event. The weeklong event, which is typically held each fall, is a community service tradition for the Nu-Omicron chapter of Kappa Sigma. Brothers build a box on campus and live there for the week.
The goal of Box-A-Thon is not only to accept donations but also to raise awareness about our veterans who many times have little or nothing to come home to. Box-A-Thon was a great success this year with $5,000 being raised for the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign. In addition to the money raised 6,000 pieces of clothing where collected and donated to the Goodwill and over 200 canned goods where collected for the NTX Food Drive.
Created in 2007, the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated over $500,000 to non-profit organizations who advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.
