On November 8, 2019, Brother Nicholas E. Snowberger (Theta-Zeta, 2001) celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of his UFO McDonald’s in Roswell, New Mexico. Brother Snowberger, who owns seven McDonald’s franchises throughout New Mexico, spared no expense with the festivities, which included live bands, local dignitaries, Roswell High School Cheer Squad performances, children’s costume contests, and much more. A local television station called it, “An alien-themed festival befitting the most unique McDonald’s in the world!”
Later in the evening, in a private dinner with Kappa Sigma brothers and guests, Brother Snowberger was honored with a John G. Tower Distinguished Alumni Award, in appreciation of his love for Kappa Sigma and the success he’s enjoyed in his career. About 15 of his closest friends and Brothers, including Nic’s brother Chris (Theta-Zeta, 2003) and father John (Theta-Zeta, 2004) listened as Worthy Grand Scribe, Burt Trembly (Theta-Zeta, 1998), presented the award to Brother Snowberger.
Nic has long served Kappa Sigma in many volunteer capacities, including Alumnus Advisor; Assistant Alumnus Advisor; Assistant District Grand Master; as a member of the Alumni Advancement Commission in 2017 and currently as a member of our Ritual Commission. Nic is also one of Jackson’s Men at the Opal Level (pin number 1756) and holds the Special Edition Kappa Sigma Founders Badge #150 auctioned at the Sesquicentennial Celebration this past summer in Charlottesville, Virginia, which included another generous contribution to the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund.
Brother Snowberger becomes just the third Theta-Zeta initiate to receive the John G. Tower Award, following Kevin S. Kaplan (1998) and Jason D. Bothwell (2017).
The John G. Tower Distinguished Alumni Award is named in honor of Senator John G. Tower, who served as a member of the Supreme Executive Committee for six years, culminating in the office of Worthy Grand Master from 1971-1973. He also was the Kappa Sigma Fraternity Man of the Year for 1961. Brother Tower is legendary and served the great state of Texas as Senator and our country in several commissions in support of America’s Defense Department. He was truly one of Kappa Sigma’s great leaders.
Kappa Sigma is pleased to present this most prestigious award to Brother Nic Snowberger, who represents our Fraternity with pride, honor, and dignity.
