Over the weekend, the Beta-Phi Colony in Davis, California, participated in the first Virtual Colony Kickoff in Kappa Sigma history. The Kickoff was done over Zoom and led by Assistant Executive Director Leo Brown. The new Colony had been working with Area Recruitment Manager Chase Booth since early in 2020 and was approved as a Colony the week before the sheltering in place order.

Over 35 members of the Colony joined the Zoom from their homes all over California. The Kickoff was an opportunity for the new Colony to come together and learn more about the Colony Development process, the BIA for Pledges Program, and to ask questions. The Colony was able to meet their District Grand Master Kirk Sasaki and their Alumnus Advisor Rory Lydon.

Once it is safe to gather again, the Colony will be pledged in, and area volunteers and staff will host an in-person meeting to discuss the Colony Roadmap and other items they need to complete.

The Beta-Phi Chapter in Davis, California, the second with that chapter designation, was originally chartered as Kappa SIgma’s 148th Chapter on February 20, 1951.
